About Florida programs
Every Florida county runs or shares a household hazardous waste program, usually a permanent center at the county landfill or transfer station. We combine the FDEP county contact list (Oct 2026) with each county’s own website.
State rules and programs
- Agency: the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) publishes the county household hazardous waste contact list. Counties set hours and rules, and most are free for residents.
- Shared programs: 21 smaller counties use a neighboring county’s program through cooperative agreements, according to FDEP.
- Paint: Florida has no PaintCare program. County household hazardous waste centers take paint; some take liquid latex only. See the paint guide.
- Recent change: Flagler County: County discontinued its permanent HHW site; residents asked to store materials until the next Amnesty Day (first anticipated January 2027). WastePro (386-586-0800) is the new FDEP contact.
FAQ
Does every Florida county have a hazmat drop-off?
FDEP says every county has a household hazardous waste program. Some small counties share a neighbor’s center or rely on collection events.
Can I take paint to a Florida household hazardous waste center?
Most county centers take paint, but rules differ: Miami-Dade and Citrus take latex paint only if it is still liquid. Check each listing.
